Mathaf places Baghdad modern art alongside its archives

Mathaf in Doha opened an exhibition on the Baghdad Modern Art Group on October 24, with public access beginning the following day, QNA reported. Artworks appear alongside documents, drawings and research on the group’s development and influence.

Founded in 1951 by Jewad Selim and Shakir Hassan Al Said, the group is presented through the relationships and ideas surrounding its work. The archival material offers context beyond viewing individual objects in isolation. According to the announcement, the exhibition continues until February sixth.
