Editorial policy
Sources and verification
We identify the published source and its date where a story relies on an outside report. Figures, forecasts and planned events are described as such. A source publication date may differ from the date our article appears.
News, reports and opinion
News reports describe attributed developments. Explanatory reports add context and distinguish analysis from documented facts. Opinion articles are labelled in both the headline and their section; they represent an editorial perspective rather than a new factual announcement.
Images
We use licensed images and identify the creator and licence in article captions. Archival and illustrative photographs are labelled; they should not be understood as photographs of the reported event unless explicitly stated. Images can be resized or cropped for presentation.
Corrections and updates
Send the article URL, the disputed passage and supporting information through our contact page. The team reviews requests and updates content where warranted. Material corrections should explain the change in the article. We preserve the original publication date and article URL, update translated editions where present, and do not change dates simply to make an old story appear new. Publication and modification dates are provided in page metadata.
Commercial content
Advertising spaces are labelled. Ads may link to third-party websites, whose content and services are separate from our reporting. Advertising does not establish the accuracy of a product claim.
