UNESCO supported the participation of Sudanese women researchers and stakeholders in a regional hybrid meeting on 12 and 13 October 2026, according to a report published on 14 October.

The meeting celebrated the first joint mentoring cycle of the Arab Women in Science Platform and launched the second cycle for 2026–2027. Participants from Khartoum and Alexandria discussed scientific cooperation and professional development.

A proposed outcome was a working group for Sudanese women researchers connected with international science platforms. The discussions sought to develop that proposal; they did not confirm that the group had already been established. The initiative aims to help sustain research links despite the effects of conflict and displacement on institutions.
