Japan provided 300 million yen, about $1.8 million, for school meals and food assistance in the Republic of Congo, WFP announced on October 16.
The contribution targets 57,000 students and 25,000 refugees and asylum seekers. Rice and canned fish will diversify meals and reduce pressure on household budgets.
Refugee assistance includes Likouala, Plateaux and Djoué-Léfini, where limited income and access to land make meeting basic food needs difficult.
