Albania and the EU provisionally closed the enterprise and industrial policy chapter on October 13. Four of the country's 33 opened negotiating chapters have now reached that stage.
The decision follows provisional closure of science and research, education and culture, and external relations in July. Industrial policy is chapter 20.
The Council emphasised that individual chapter agreements remain provisional until an overall settlement is reached. Chapters can be revisited if necessary, so the decision represents progress within accession negotiations rather than final membership approval.
