Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir entered the Al-Aqsa compound under security protection on 26 October 2026, WAFA reported, citing the Jerusalem Governorate. The visit preceded the scheduled Knesset election; it was not an election-results announcement.

WAFA connected concerns to his repeated visits and calls for expanded Jewish prayer in the compound. The dispute concerns use of the site and its historical and legal status quo, beyond campaign timing. The report did not identify a new legal decision changing those arrangements.
