Egyptian and Pakistani foreign ministers called for a return to diplomacy between the United States and Iran during an October 18 phone call, QNA reported from an Egyptian statement.
Badr Abdelatty and Ishaq Dar reviewed de-escalation proposals and coordination. Egypt rejected threats to Gulf security and using maritime routes for pressure. The call did not announce that negotiations had actually resumed or a new understanding had been reached.
