The EU expressed regret on October 14 over the postponement of Palestinian legislative and presidential elections until September 2027. Its statement said legislative voting had been scheduled for November 28, 2026, with the presidential poll due in early 2027.

While acknowledging the Palestinian Authority's constraints, the bloc urged elections as soon as possible and stressed inclusive, transparent participation.

It offered support, including a potential election observation mission, and linked continued backing for the authority to progress on reforms, democratic legitimacy and accountability.
