Almaty celebrates young artists from around the world

The UNESCO-supported Planet of Art festival highlighted women's role in living heritage.

The Almaty Museum of Arts hosted an awards ceremony and exhibition of finalists in the Planet of Art festival on 12 October 2026, according to UNESCO's report of 14 October.

Thousands of children and young artists from 54 countries entered the competition, with about 400 international participants reaching the final stage. This year's theme focused on women's role in safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage.

Participants also joined cultural and educational activities and museum visits. Selected works are scheduled for display at UNESCO headquarters in Paris in November. That exhibition is still forthcoming, while the awards ceremony described in this report has already taken place in Almaty.
