Luanda is preparing to host the fourth Biennale on 22 and 23 October 2026, with a theme connecting water governance to conflict prevention, mediation and resolution in Africa, according to UNESCO's announcement of 12 October.

The Government of Angola, the African Union and UNESCO are organising the event. Expected participants include leaders, young people, experts and partners, with cross-border cooperation and intergenerational dialogue on the agenda.

Water is closely linked to livelihoods, food security and development. The forthcoming discussions will explore how shared resources can become a basis for cooperation. Any new commitments or outcomes will require follow-up after the meeting; they are not established by the announcement alone.
