A magnitude 7 earthquake struck the Kamchatka region in Russia’s Far East on 16 October 2026, QNA reported, citing the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
The report placed its depth at about 140 kilometres and its centre roughly 123 kilometres southwest of Vilyuchinsk. Initial information did not confirm casualties or material damage. Kamchatka lies within the Pacific’s active seismic zone; the absence of initial damage details does not mean that an impact assessment was complete.
