The EU and Moldova opened accession talks on the internal market and on competitiveness and inclusive growth on October 13. The step expands negotiations on aligning national rules with EU law.
The clusters cover movement of goods, workers, services and capital, alongside competition, taxation, digital policy, education and employment.
The EU set benchmarks for eventual provisional closure and will continue monitoring implementation. The move follows the opening of external-relations negotiations in July. It does not confer membership or establish an accession date.
