Oman chaired consultations at UN headquarters in New York ahead of a conference on a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, its foreign ministry reported on October 16.

Delegates reviewed preparations, the work programme and outcomes of working-committee meetings. The seventh conference session is scheduled for November 16–20, 2026.

Omani UN representative Omar Alkathiri led the meeting with member states and the Secretariat. The consultations concern preparation and consensus-building, with no final agreement announced.
