Palestinian Education Minister Amjad Barham discussed education priorities with an Irish delegation, WAFA reported on 22 October. More classroom teaching and recovery of lost learning were central topics.

The ministry outlined needs at temporary learning spaces in Gaza, universities and vulnerable West Bank schools. Ireland’s delegation said these priorities would inform future assistance; no new funding amount was announced.

Temporary learning spaces and recovery

In an update dated 5 August 2026, UNICEF described extensive school damage in Gaza and work on temporary learning spaces. Restoring education therefore involves continuity and a suitable learning environment as well as a place to sit. This gives context to discussions of learning recovery, but the Palestinian-Irish meeting by itself does not establish that new funding was delivered or classrooms opened. UNICEF.
