Palestinian agreements shift occupational-fee collection locally

Palestine’s finance ministry signed agreements allowing Ramallah, Al Bireh, Hebron and Nablus municipalities to collect occupational and craft fees, WAFA reported on October 24. The arrangement is due to take effect at the start of the following year.

Municipalities will collect directly and transfer the ministry’s share under the applicable mechanism, reducing separate payment steps for residents. This changes collection arrangements, not the existence of the fees. Expansion to other municipalities is tied to readiness; the agreements should not be read as automatic nationwide implementation.
