Qatari foreign ministry official Ibrahim Al-Hashmi said contacts and exchanges within Washington–Tehran mediation had continued, QNA reported from the 20 October weekly briefing.
He stressed dialogue as the route to a solution and warned about escalation’s costs for energy, the economy and people in the region. Maritime security, water and internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz were also discussed; no new agreement was announced.
