Qatar called for respect for international law and diplomatic settlements during a Security Council debate, according to an October 16 report by Qatar News Agency quoting ambassador Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani.

She urged the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and protection of navigation. She said Doha continued mediation between Washington and Tehran and supported Pakistani efforts. The statement also rejected forced Palestinian displacement and reaffirmed support for a two-state solution during the Council's Middle East discussion.
