South African President Cyril Ramaphosa lifted police commissioner Fannie Masemola's precautionary suspension on October 16. He is due to resume his full duties on Monday, October 19.
The presidency said the suspension began in April after a court appearance over public finance management charges. Prosecutors ordered their withdrawal on September 15, followed by formal withdrawal in court on September 22. Ramaphosa also thanked Puleng Dimpane, who served as acting commissioner during the intervening period.
