UNICEF warns fuel shortages threaten Taiz water systems

UNICEF warned in an October 20 briefing that fighting and fuel shortages threatened water systems serving around three million people in Taiz, including children. It described disrupted supply routes and more expensive trucked water.
The connection is operational: pumps need fuel, and disruption affects sanitation, nutrition and health. The population figure describes people served by threatened systems, not proof that all have already lost water. UNICEF says it continues supplying diesel and emergency services, so the risk of shutdown must remain distinct from a complete shutdown already occurring.
