US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on October 16 waiving selected measures under a new law targeting Russia and parties dealing with it, Qatar News Agency reported the following day.
The decision covers tariffs and sanctions, including provisions approaching their implementation date. The report said the order leaves earlier sanctions imposed under other executive orders intact. The administration cited national interests, while the agency reported criticism from lawmakers. The waiver therefore does not amount to removal of all Russia-related restrictions.
