QNA cited a UN report on 21 October projecting 2.8°C of warming by 2100 under current policies, or 2.6°C if existing commitments are implemented. The comparison is with pre-industrial levels.
The report urged faster emissions reductions and said current national plans fall short of the required pathway. These are scenario-based projections, not temperatures already measured on the publication date.
