Canada announced C$30 million in federal support on October 16 for Hitachi Energy's planned transformer-insulation factory in London, Ontario.

The C$478.8 million project aims to manufacture electrical-grade pressboard and laminated insulation from wood fibre, with capacity of up to 20,000 tonnes annually.

The government expects more than 100 new jobs at the facility and stronger electricity and forest-products supply chains. These are project targets; the funding announcement does not mean the factory has begun production.
