Canada announced on October 16 that Exiro Nickel had completed its acquisition of the Thompson Mine Complex in Manitoba, through a transaction involving investment partners and the Canada Growth Fund.
Natural Resources Canada said the complex includes two underground mines and a mill and contributes around 10–15 percent of annual Canadian nickel output. Vale Base Metals retains a shareholding and an offtake agreement. The transaction aims to maintain about 675 local jobs and strengthen critical mineral supply chains.
