The second phase of Gamsberg's concentrator plant in South Africa was inaugurated on October 16. The presidency said the expansion raises annual zinc-in-concentrate capacity to approximately 500,000 tonnes.
It expects operations to sustain 800–1,000 jobs, predominantly recruited locally in the Northern Cape. The inauguration address emphasized community participation, skills and environmental protection alongside industrial investment.
