IRENA's Council examined the next stage of the energy transition in Abu Dhabi during October 14–16 meetings involving more than 300 government representatives and delegates, WAM reported.
The 2026 transition outlook highlights record renewable deployment and falling technology costs, alongside gaps in implementation, efficiency and enabling infrastructure.
Discussions also covered the 2026–2027 work programme and budget and the 2028–2032 medium-term strategy. Renewable-powered electrification is a central theme as electricity demand rises.
