A QNB report carried by QNA on October 24 links weak Chinese consumption to property wealth, confidence, job security and social protection. The bank argues that the shift towards household spending is progressing more slowly than intended.

Income and social protection therefore deserve attention alongside retail sales. This explains the bank’s argument; it is neither an independently modelled economic forecast nor an investment recommendation.
