An October UN discussion in Belgium examined climate misinformation and the roles of newsrooms, platforms and advertising, according to UNRIC. Recommendations included journalist training, source checking and coverage of solutions and accountability.

Our editorial reading is that correcting an isolated post is insufficient if its amplification goes unexamined. Readers benefit from tracing an assertion to its evidence and distinguishing scientific findings from political positions. This is analysis of the discussion, not a new legal requirement or a claim that every disagreement over climate policy amounts to misinformation.
