A WHO update on October 16 reported that Egypt, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Suriname joined the Group of Friends of Traditional Medicine at its September meeting in Geneva.

Discussions covered the 2025–2034 global strategy, research, regulation and protection of community knowledge. Proposals also addressed independent verification of product safety and sustainability.

The cooperation concerns policy and evidence, rather than blanket approval of treatments. Thailand plans to host the third global summit in November 2027.
