The World Food Programme warned that escalating fighting had cut off assistance to about 800,000 people in Yemen, according to a United Nations update dated 14 October 2026. The agency linked the disruption to changing front lines, road closures and growing security risks.

Access difficulties affect Taiz and other conflict areas, restricting the movement of humanitarian teams and supplies. The UN update warned of the risk of a humanitarian catastrophe if access remained blocked.

The figure refers to people whose assistance was interrupted in the WFP assessment. It is not a count of everyone in Yemen who needs support. Safe supply routes and access for humanitarian workers remain central to the response.
