UNDP outlined training to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support for returnees in five Iraqi governorates in an October 15 report.

An initial trainer programme in July and August brought together health and social-affairs personnel. Follow-on sessions reached 125 practitioners and social workers in September across Ninewa, Kirkuk, Anbar, Salah al-Din and Diyala.

The approach links health and social services, referral pathways and local support. The report describes capacity-building and follow-up work, rather than a new treatment or demonstrated clinical outcomes.
