UNICEF and Gavi announced an agreement on October 22 to bring the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine price to EUR5.50 per dose, expected in early 2027. They project savings of about US$50 million during 2027–2029.

The price change is conditional, including WHO prequalification of a new manufacturing facility. Projected savings are not vaccinations already delivered. Vaccines also remain part of a wider malaria response that includes mosquito control, diagnosis and treatment. The practical benefit depends on meeting the production requirements and turning more affordable supplies into accessible immunisation services.
