Vitamin B12 deficiency may involve fatigue, tingling and memory or neurological difficulties. NHS guidance notes that some problems can occur without anaemia, so the absence of obvious pallor does not exclude assessment.

Low intake, poor absorption and certain medicines can contribute. This explains why simply adding animal foods is not suitable for every case and why tablets or injections depend on the cause.

Seek assessment if deficiency is suspected, especially with persistent neurological symptoms: some damage can become permanent. Describe your diet, medicines and supplements to your clinician; do not stop prescribed treatment yourself.
