Grief after loss: why recovery has no single timetable
Grief can follow death or the loss of a relationship, home or job, bringing shock, anger, exhaustion or guilt

Grief can follow death or the loss of a relationship, home or job, bringing shock, anger, exhaustion or guilt. Experiences vary; there is no requirement to pass through orderly stages or feel what others expect.
Start with small daily goals and connect with someone trusted or suitable peer support. Avoid comparing your functioning with someone else's or using alcohol and drugs to suppress feelings.
Seek assessment when daily life becomes unmanageable, anxiety or low mood worsens, or self-help is insufficient. Grief being natural does not remove your right to care. Immediate safety risks require emergency help.
